The development of a silver solution using silver powder derived from urban mining

Silver, which may be depleted within the next 20 years, is the focus of this project. We have created a silver solution using silver powder sourced from urban mining, specifically from discarded PCs and smartphones. To elevate this silver solution into the world of art, we collaborated with KANEGAE Gallery in Kyoto to provide it to the popular contemporary artist Ryuta Fukumura.

The silver powder derived from “urban mining” posed some manufacturing challenges due to its complex particle size. However, by fully utilizing Naniwa Silver Solution’s technical expertise, we achieved success in creating this work. Furthermore, not only through KANEGAE Gallery but also by exhibiting at “Art Collaboration Kyoto,” we believe we were able to raise awareness among media and visitors from around the world.

Future Outlook

Through this project, we at Naniwa Silver Solution were reminded of the need to further enhance our technical capabilities and, at the same time, recognized the potential of what we, as a silver solution manufacturer, can contribute to society. Moving forward, Naniwa Silver Solution will continue to strive for growth and improvement every day.
